“Flex Fuel” seems to be the new buzz word of the era – but what exactly is “flex fuel”?
Quite simply, a flex fuel vehicle is simply a vehicle designed to run on gasoline and / or any blend of ethanol up to 85% (and in some applications more).
The concept is far from new, with flex fuel vehicles having been in production since the 1980’s. What is new however is that with the advancements in technology and computing power, we now have the ability to turn almost any vehicle into a flex fuel vehicle.
Why would one want to turn their vehicle into a flex fuel vehicle you may ask?

If you’re too lazy for this, let me simplify. Compared to regular unleaded gasoline, E85 is cheaper, better for the environment, has a much higher octane rating, makes your engine run cleaner and cooler, and has the ability to almost double power output in the right application.
The conundrum for most performance enthusiasts has always been either lack of availability (unable to acquire easy access or fear of running out without an E85 source convenient) , or not wanting to have to run E85 all the time (cost, convenience etc).
